Florfenicol is a synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic that is effective against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria isolated from domestic animals. Florfenicol, a fluorinated derivative of chloramphenicol, acts by inhibiting protein synthesis at the ribosomal level and is bacteriostatic. Doxycycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the30S ribosomal subunit.
