Sulfadimidine is a sulfonamide drug that inhibits bacterial synthesis ofdihydrofolic acid by competing with para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) for binding todihydropteroate synthetase (dihydrofolate synthetase). Inhibition of dihydrofolic acidsynthesis decreases the synthesis of bacterial nucleotides and DNA.UNISUDIN333 is indicated for gastrointestinal, respiratory, and urogenital infections,mastitis and panaritium caused by sulfadimidine sensitive micro-organisms, likeCorynebacterium, E. coli, Fusobacterium necrophorum, Pasteurella, Salmonella andStreptococcus spp., in calves, cattle, goats, and sheep.
