Uni-Ampi Col

Ampicillin acts as an irreversible inhibitor of the enzyme transpeptidase, whichis needed by bacteria to make the cell wall. It inhibits the third and final stage ofbacterial cell wall synthesis in binary fission, which ultimately leads to cell lysis;therefore, ampicillin is usually bacteriolytic. The bacterial cell membrane is the initialsite of action for colistin. Colistin binds to LPSs and phospholipids in the outer cellmembrane of Gram-negative bacteria.Uni-Ampi Col is a broad-spectrum antibiotic with bactericidal activity againstGram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Streptococcus spp.,Staphylococcus spp., Pasteurella spp., Bacillus anthracis, Bordetella, Clostridiumspp., Corynebacterium spp., E. coli, and Haemophilus spp. It is indicated for bacterial infections caused by micro- organisms susceptible to ampicillin and colistin, especially infections of the digestive tract in poultry.
